Exhibited at C.A.L. 2012, the R.C.A. Galleries, Kensington, London, U.K.

Dims 36 x 24 x 36cm. Handbuilt porcelain, unglazed, stained and high fired. This is one of the pieces made based on drawings of a Radiolaria. The pieces in the central part of the piece are stained to try to draw the eye of the viewer to the most complex part of the piece. Photographer: Sylvain Deleu. Copyright: Nuala O'Donovan

'Teasel Exposed Interior'.

Exhibited at Collect 2012, The Saatchi Galleries, Kings Road, London, U.K.

This is a piece based on the flower of the teasel plant. The interior of the piece has a structure which develops the pattern created by interior surface. Photographer: Sylvain Deleu. Copyright: Nuala O'Donovan

'Banksia, Dynamic Form'.

Exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art, Summer Exhibition 2012, Piccadilly, London, U.K.

This piece is a development of work based on the flower of the Banksia Plant. It experiments with the addition of layers and variation of the scale of the elements of the pattern. The larger external elements protect the more fragile internal structure. It's an attempt to communicate the energy of 'Gnomic growth systems' described by D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson in his book On Growth and Form, first published in 1917. Photographer: Sylvain Deleu.  'Coral, Structure and Surface'.

Exhibited at Collect 2012, The Saatchi Galleries, Kings Road, London, U.K

This piece is based on earlier Coral pieces. It's experiments with allowing the internal structure to become part of the surface of the work and varies the density of the surface so as to allow light through to the interior. Photographer: Sylvain Deleu. Copyright: Nuala O'Donovan
